👋HEY ALL!

A bit of a later send this week (not that anyone really notices, do they?) as I was off the deep end in a private session today sharing my story of how I came to be working in this industry.

Here's an excerpt --

One of the key things I’ve learned is – through my "human" skills or depending on how you view traditionally soft skills, some would say they are feminine leadership skills - is that we have the power to create environments that foster both security and playfulness.

We can design spaces—whether they’re physical rooms or entire industries—that give us permission to be ourselves, to have fun, and to take up space unapologetically.

And the way to do that is through vulnerability - a distinctly human trait that in leaders have been undervalued and associated with weakness, but is in fact a superpower.

Two women that I saw ahead of me on the path before I made the pivot to sextech from tech, were Esther Perel and Cindy Gallop. Both distinctly so themselves, working in an industry that felt purposeful to me (whether you were passionate about it, or found something to piss you off that you wanted to change… to paraphrase Cindy's words "angry women get shit done!"), that these two powerhouses served as my north stars.

Finding these nodes ahead of you on your journey is so important, it helps you point your compass toward where you'd like to be... and in a world where so often it feels like I could not see non-traditional ideas of success that resonated with me, it was a game-changer.

🍑 Hormone-Free Contraception for women

Beaming with pride to see Sextech School alum Lisa Kinsella featured in Forbes this week!

When Lisa Kinsella of Chicago was diagnosed with breast cancer and filed for divorce in the same week, she eventually found herself in need of a hormone-free contraceptive option after cancer treatment. Kinsella then discovered that there were no over-the-counter (OTC) hormone-free options for women that also protected against sexually transmitted infections (STIs), while men could find hundreds of OTC condom brands.

💕 Orifice.ai, and the Arousal of Rejection

I love this brilliant take by Madison Griffiths on Orifice AI the virtual girlfriend and linkable toy that has been doing the rounds for a few months now. Well worth a read.

Every few years, if I end up re-uploading my profile on Hinge or wherever else, my face part of a catalogue of could-be-lovers, I’ll cop a like from one particular man who has long been throwing his hat into the ring for close to a decade. We’ve never actually met. His audacity to shoot me through a like, or something akin to that, despite me having never accepted his advances, intrigues me. Frustrates me, even. I’m not sure what it is exactly that makes me a little peeved. I think, perhaps, it has something to do with the labour of rejection, how awful and unkind it feels to turn somebody down, and how unmoved he is by this, how disposed he is to place the onus of his desires back onto me, as if–somewhere along the way–I’ll hopefully decide to unlock the hatches, to seriously consider his attempts. Or, maybe, what gets him off is not the off-chance that we will eventually clink glasses and lock lips, but rather, that we won’t: my dismissal an ingredient of his arousal.

These cannabis gummies keep selling out in 2024

If you've ever struggled to enjoy cannabis due to the harshness of smoking or vaping, you're not alone. That’s why these new cannabis gummies caught our eye.

Mood is an online dispensary that has invented a “joint within a gummy” that’s extremely potent yet federally-legal. Their gummies are formulated to tap into the human body’s endocannabinoid system.

Although this system was discovered in the 1990’s, farmers and scientists at Mood were among the first to figure out how to tap into it with cannabis gummies. Just 1 of their rapid onset THC gummies can get you feeling right within 5 minutes!
