💰 Flo Health closes $200M and becomes the first femtech unicorn 🦄
This is a GROUNDBREAKING moment for women's health.
It is also one that while we celebrate has been the topic of a lot of debate. Many others on LinkedIn have spoken about far more eloquently than I, but essentially we are left wondering... why did a male-led team reach this milestone?
Clue is an exceptional female-led example that plays in the same space - and there are many others female-led teams.
Don't get me wrong – I'm all about collaboration across genders when it comes to reimagining sexuality, health and technology. After all, that's been a core part of my work in the sextech space!
But as Alessandra Hendersen, Co-Founder of Elektra Health put it:
This situation highlights two concerning trends:
The concentration of women's health data in men's hands
Yet another instance of male executives profiting from an area that should be empowering women financially and socially
