And...while people (me?!) are getting cosy with AI, new research is shedding more like on last year's big 'sex recession' claims.
So Gen Z aren't having as much sex...or are they?
"Gen Z is exploring the spectrum of sexual identity comfortably and more openly, partly thanks to widely available online porn and the normalization of conversations around sex and sexuality by various social media communities."
That isn’t, of course, without consequences. However, how do we keep up? And should we?
To round it up, you can check out the BOOM in China's sextech market as it is one of the first markets to be making investments bridging IRL and virtual worlds for intimacy.
This is part of a larger concentrated investment into China’s ‘smart’ product innovation — but without a doubt sextech is booming there (1 million people buying a product a day, one brand claims!), and the tech is getting more sophisticated, fast.

Claims have emerged that members of Generation Z (who were born between the late ’90s and the late aughts and who are also unfortunately known as Zoomers) are “puriteens,” and this moment in time is a “sex recession.”
Over the past few years, a number of studies have shown that Gen Z is dating less and having less casual sex, even at a time when both have never been more accessible thanks to the proliferation of dating apps and other social media. But the truth is far more complicated, less puritanical, and has quite a lot to do with recent sexual politics.
💕 Sextech is entering virtual reality in China

Chunshuitang is seeking to develop a ‘love hotel’ chain, which will be packed with their smart sex toys and VR products.
“In 2013, China’s love hotel market grew up to RMB32 billion (US$4 billion) size. Every day we have one million people buying our products online and we also wanted to serve them to our offline space,” Lin said.

Chatbots are becoming our gentlest companions and supporters. CNET covers the Washington Post research and more uses and misuses of GenAI, revealing about 7 percent of conversations are about sex, including people asking for racy role-play or spicy images.
5 percent of conversations were people asking personal questions — such as for advice on flirting or what to do when a friend's partner is cheating...
