Spermageddon, AI, menopause...money?

Welcome!

You made it back here 🔥 Edition #2 of Unofficial Space - your go-to sextech industry newsletter.

Within hours of hitting “send” last week, this newsletter was blessed with some very good vibes from those who had subscribed. 💌 Thank you for the notes, social shares and feedback.

What a crew we have here in this lil corner of the internet already.

Good thing you are here so I can get on with it.

What’s going on this week:

  • 💦 Spermageddon is big business

  • 🤖 Sexual wellness apps are using AI this week

  • 💰️ Menopause market is where the money is 💰️💰️💰️

    + Plus : round-up of this week’s 🔥 jobs and events

Let's dive right in, shall we?

This week in sextech

1. 💦💦💦 Spermageddon 💦💦💦

Is the global sperm count declining?

A crop of sextech companies are betting on it, turning their attention to men offering sperm-testing kits and freezing.

With a cast eccentric enough to rival Tiger King, the reporting (below) on this highly politicised topic includes sperm-kit salesman and Founder of Legacy, a self-described "Sperm King” 🐯 👑 who has 100 vials of his own sperm frozen, “the world's preeminent pronatalist power couple,” a host of celebrity investors, most interestingly Orlando Bloom (and his disinterest)… and the Raw Egg Nationalist. 🤔

Yes, you need to read it.

Simon van Zuylen-Wood’s will open your eyes to the world of male fertility for NY Mag Intelligencer.  Dive in below 👇️

For more resources on male fertility, Sri Varre compiled a great list of other companies working on this in this LinkedIn post.

2. 🤖 How Sexual Wellness apps are using AI this week:

Across the globe, sexual wellness companies are rapidly incorporating AI into their business models. Beyond dating apps, what’s new?

💡 Top 3 on my radar this week:

  1. Australian soon-to-be-launched company Frenchie M.D are using AI to turn patient questionnaires into summaries for doctor assessment. Learn more here.

  2. Singaporean based HeHealth built a platform that combines AI with healthcare professionals to detect STIs in men. The product allows users to upload a photo of their genitals for instant AI assessment. Sound intriguing? Learn more here.

  3. German based sex education platform Beducated have launched their free AI sex coach. Test it out here. 🧠 🔐 All chats are 100% private—Beducated does not save data on its servers.

Of course, online dating has been overrun with AI use cases for months. From profile optimisation, crafting opening lines, carrying on conversations even texts to dump your ex, are we at the point where we can outsource a whole relationship?

3. 💰️ Want outsized returns? Invest in menopause

By 2030 approximately 1.3 billion women globally will be post-menopausal. This is a huge underserved market.

There are billion dollar businesses waiting to be built in a healthcare industry that is still largely designed and built by men.
