New jobs and opportunities in sextech this week

πŸ‘‹ HEY ALL!

Starting out by celebrating some incredible graduates from Sextech School πŸŽ“πŸŽ‰

The momentum on their startups and careers after 6 weeks, the self-organising sessions to explore critical topics like decolonising sextech, there's a lot to celebrate in this community.

You can follow these emerging leaders on LinkedIn πŸ‘‡πŸŽ“πŸ‘‡

(of course there's so many grads that choose to stay private and we love that too)

As sextech continues at breakneck speed, I can't stress enough the importance of inviting in global perspective. Our industry needs humans with unique experiences, perspectives and backgrounds - essentially, what makes you, you.

Why do I feel so strongly about this? I spend a lot of time out on the edges of the internet and sometimes it's a tough look. Yesterday I stumbled onto a founder and something he calls called Orifice.ai [NSFW]. πŸ˜• More on this in our news section.

πŸ”₯ THIS WEEK IN SEXTECH

  • πŸ§ͺ Viral video ad of AI toy

  • πŸ€” Are we ready for AI po*n?

  • πŸ“– New book explores future of relationships

  • 🏳️🌈 Studies find a link between having older brothers and being gay

πŸ§ͺ Viral video ad of AI toy

When I first saw the video ad for Orifice it depressed me. But there were only a few views, very niche.

Overnight it has clocked to 10 million views, 50 death threats and many comments.

A glance at the founder Bryan's incel perspective unravelling on twitter/X really sent me (and apparently, a lot of others).

Ok but before spiralling like I did, head to 404 Media as they do a stellar reporting job on this one, as usual:

Want to read more on this? Futurism just published a piece with the subheading, "We don't even know where to begin with this one."

πŸ€” Are we ready for AI po*n?

Simon DubΓ©, PhD and ValΓ©rie Lapointe penned this article for The Conversation which identifies the challenges and opportunities for adult entertainment.

More on this from Forbes contributor Bernard Marr πŸ‘‡πŸ»

πŸ“– New book explores future of relationships

By 2050, according to AI expert David Levy, it will be both possible and socially acceptable for us to have robot partners, even to marry them...

Dutch Futures-Anthropologist Roanne van Voorst, Ph.D. has tried it so you don't have to (yet) for her new book, Six In A Bed: The Future of Love β€” From Sex Dolls & Avatars to Polyamory.

For a look at how she went about it, two very different critiques this week:

Robot partners, avatar companions, oxytocin pills: What will love and relationships look like in the future? [Read: πŸ“° Irish Independent]

Love in a remotely-controlled climate: If we outsource our decisions to machines, we will be less capable of navigating our own feelings [Read: πŸ“° The Critic]

🏳️🌈 Studies find a link between having older brothers and being gay - Does it matter?

There is a well-documented correlation between having older siblings (older brothers, specifically) and a person's chance of being gay.

At baseline, the chance that someone will be gay is pretty small.

"Somewhere around 2 to 3% β€” we can call it 2% just for the sake of simplicity," Semenyna says. "The fraternal birth order effect shows that you're going to run into about a 33% increase in the probability of, like, male same-sex attraction for every older brother that you have."
